Can you hear the music, “Jingle bells, jingle bells, jingle all the way.” Christmas is getting closer and closer, have you made all the preparation for it yet?
Honestly, the economy crisis has a big impact into our daily life, where we must try to save as much as we can. The truth is life goes on, and you still have to celebrate the Christmas whatever what happened to the world, right?
If you can’t afford to buy the costly LED lights decoration, then you should consider building it yourself! Well, this is a very fun and valuable experience, where you can spend your quality time with your loved ones yet save some extra money by DIY the animated Christmas LED snowflake window decoration.
This whole project is fully controlled by the PIC18F1330 microcontroller (ic4) using it’s internal oscillator. It multiplexes the 8×8 LED array by sequentially turning on one column at a time, and then sending 8 bits of data to the 8LEDs in that column before moving on to the next. Eight outputs of the 4028 BCD to decimal decoder IC are used and these can be controlled using only three ports of the microcontroller.
This awesome animated Christmas LED Snowflake window decoration has been programmed entirely in assembler and it has about 30 different pattern effects with random speed, fading style and pattern selections!
