Arduino voice shield

arduino voice shield

There are two ways of giving voice to your microcontroller design: one is to use speech synthesizer and another play recorded sounds. Synthesized voice is far from natural and so may seem to cold in many applications. It is algorithm based method and so doesn’t require lots of storage memory to get long speeches. Recorded voice is still better choice when you need natural sound. Problem is that you need to record first in order to play back. Boris Landoni designed great Arduino voice shield which uses ISD1790PY chip. Chip is quite robust and actually can be used as standalone solution or interfaced to microcontroller using SPI interface. Chip can store up to 120s of recorded sound. It already has a microphone where you can record messages directly in to chip. Chip also have built in audio amplifier so only speaker is needed to be connected using audio jack. There is also a special software where messages can be uploaded from computer and organized. With this Arduino voice shield you can build lots of fun things starting with various home… Continue reading

The Multipurpose Voice Shield is Incredibly Marvelous!

Do you have any ideas what the Voice Shield is? For your information, the voice shield is an analog audio shield for the Arduino, where it allows you to play audio sound bytes. Basically, it could be used in many different Arduino projects, such as sound effects, a talking clock, a talking voltmeter, Arduino talking GPS, robots, alarms and much more. This voice shield is very unique, which it has many ways to access different sound bytes. Hence, it can be used to build a “talking” device easily. Beside that, it can work with words, complete sentences or even sound effects perfectly! Technically, the voice shield is well-designed in order to work with a “full size” Arduino as a plug-on shield. Or, you can use it with any Arduino you want it to be, but you have to wire it manually. As you can see that this voice shield has a stackable design, which mean you can stack on top of the voice shield, if you have other plug-on shields. However, you must make sure that they’re not using the… Continue reading
