This is a small PIC 12F683 development board. It has all necessary parts needed to run and be interfaced in to other boards or breadboard. Despite its small size, microcontroller has 10-bit ADC and PWMH that allow building quite powerful applications. It has ICSP programmer header along with other I/Os. Additionally board carries couple LEDs. One is power LED and another is attached to PWMH which can be configured with jumper wire. This is really neat board which can be used as stand alone module. PIC12F handy development board

PIC12F are great small microcontrollers with 8 legs. They usually come with internal oscillator, 4 channels 10-bit ADC, EEPROM, voltage reference, several communication peripherals like USART, SPI, I2C, timers and other. So with it you can build quit powerful applications and control devices. Embedded-lab introduced pretty handy development board fir this micro. It has many features that enable rapid prototyping or learning the basics. It comes with 5V voltage regulator, I/O header for all MCU pins, fairly big prototyping area, ICSP programming header, four push buttons connected to analog pin through voltage divider resistors, and couple LEDs – one power another attached to digital output. nedoCPU-16 a PIC16F87X dev board with serial adapter

If you are building a development boards at home probably it is best to choose the easier way of doing that. Instead of building one huge board with functionality overload go with modular concept. Make a base module where microcontroller residues and then start building extension boards that may be used when needed. This way you will end up doing projects faster and more efficient. Modules may be reused in different projects. Neodon did just that. They build a breakout board for PIC16F87X with power supply and support circuit like reset and crystals. Of course all I/O’s are populated on a side. And then additionally they made an extension board for RS232 which easily can be replaced with USB to USART adapter and so on. There are never enough of development boards. Everyone has its special taste and needs. Jose have designed pretty good development board which may fit for learning microcontrollers and for end projects as well. Development board is a work inspired by TP-2550 board built by Giovani Lafabre. It is based on PIC18F2550 microcontroller and is 10cm x 8cm size just to fit free Eagle CAD version. Development board for newly released enhanced mid-range PIC16F1847 microcontroller

Development board is a very helpful tool for exploring the features of a microcontroller. It allows you to perform varieties of experiments and projects with minimum effort of time. This project describes how to make your own development board for PIC16F1847 microcontroller. If you are not aware of PIC16F1847, it is the latest successor of the 18-pin classic PIC16x84 microcontroller with lot of enhanced features. Microchip released this last month and it has 14Kbytes of flash program memory and 1024 bytes of RAM. Besides a LCD, 8 LEDs and 6 tact switches, the board contains a lot of other peripherals that can be useful in doing various projects. The external serial EEPROM could be used in datalogger projects to record the measured samples. The on-board MCP23008 chip provides an additional 8-bit I/O port if required. The MCP604 is a Quad OpAmp chip from Microchip, which can be used with DS1868 (dual channel digital potentiometer) for signal conditioning purpose. It’s a full-featured board for hobbyists.
