Wireless measuring gas consumption

If you want to information about things happening at your home, you should start building some sort of information grid. Sven337 is in the middle of pulling all energy consumption data to one point. Recently he finished electricity monitoring, now he has been working on gas readings. He have faced several difficulties during projects. First of all that there is no electricity or wiring near gas meter. So he decided to use battery as power source and send data wireless. Another problem is how to capture gas meter readings. He analyzed several ways including optical reflection, magnetic with hall sensor and finally he stayed with reed switch. It allows to minimize power consumption as it wouldn’t draw current when inactive. Measurement is made by using Arduino platform – JeeNode. He attached well known nRF24L01+ RF to transmit data to Raspberry Pi based server. Server side is also paired with same RF module. DIY home security system – anyone can build

Security systems don’t have to be complex. Everyone can use a bit imagination and build one around a house. Ken wanted to take control of his house security management and build a simple model of security system. The center of controller is a JeeNode board from JeeLabs. This is small Atmega328P based board with wireless adapter. Security system consists of 3 magnetic door sensors, single panic push button, temperature sensor and motion sensor. Hen even worked out a SketchUp model of home plan where he is able to indicate which of sensors has been triggered. Project is still in development and new features like keypad should appear soon. JeeNode – Arduino and Xbee in one

Probably you know That Arduino and Xbee isn’t a new thing, but Arduino and Xbee shield combination isn’t always handy for smaller projects. So JeeNode (v4) is all in one compact board. It contains no built in USB interface, so any external USB-TTL converter can be used to flash it. Board is based on ATmega238 with Arduino bootloader so Arduino IDE can be used to program it. This is Open-Source design with full specs and schematics, but also can be obtained as a kit. I believe this thing could find many places where to use due to its small size Arduino programmability.
