Robotic head moves his mouth

Chris from pyroelectro continues his series of building animatronic robot head. This time he adds a mouth that tries to mimic moving human mouth. From previous review we already know that robotic head is able to move his eyebrows and eyes. This time author faced a dilemma – how moth should look like. One way is to make it of moving part of face and another add LCD that mimics the mouth with lights or spectrum.

Lastly he made both to see which works best. Moving mouth needs one additional servo motor that simply moves lower jaw up and down. This is quite enough to make impression. In second version of mouth there is a spare HD44780 based LCD used. It simply shows action with custom characters. Project itself is really low budget so anyone could give a try and move forward by improving design.
