Hello, Nice to Meet You, Mr. Fission!

Have you ever seen or used any radiation detector before? If you haven’t, then you must be wondered what the main purpose of this stuff about, isn’t it? Well, radiation detector was mostly used for medical diagnoses, radioactive dating measurements and any measurements of background radiation, activity levels and radiation doses. Thus, radiation detector is a very common tool in hospital and medical treatment center!

Today, you’re very lucky, as you will have the chance to meet “Mr.Fission”, the smart radiation detector. Mr.Fission is wearing an all black suit and you’re going to to love it! For your information, this design is based on a Motorola MC68HC908KX8 microcontroller. Theoretically, the MCU will take the place of the inverters oscillator, by simply using one of its timer outputs and the detector stage will convert pulses from the Geiger-Mueller tube into interrupt request signals.

As a result, the processor will count the pulses and uses a 16×2 LCD display, which it is help to show a 1-minute count average, a miliRoentgens/hr reading and a bargraph display with a 3-second integration period.

So, it’s about time to take action with this cool “Men in Black”, let’s go!
