Arduino powered smart glasses

Jordan Fung have built a great smart glass prototype which features Arduino Nano, FLCOS display module, three buttons and LED. He was able to fit all electronics on his glasses. He also wrote his custom OS for Arduino which is capable of running custom apps and accept commands from buttons. Probably the most challenging thing in such project is display. He made pretty smart decision with FLCOS display module which normally is used in FPV setups. This so called Pedosa glass is constantly improved with new features including upcoming 3D printed case. Pixy camera memorizes color objects

Image processing is one of most exciting topics but it takes significant amount processing power to detect simplest objects in live images. Platforms like Arduino couldn’t deal with such task, at least effectively, this is why we don’t see much of attempts. But why leave this intense task for Arduino when image processing can be performed on peripheral. A great example is a Pixy camera which comes as camera module that can be connected to PC but also can be interfaced to embedded systems including Arduino. The idea is pretty simple, first of all camera is connected to PC where up to seven color objects in images are stored as signatures in camera nonvolatile internal memory. Then when camera is in use it is able to track objects when they are detected. There can be many possible uses of pixy where simplest could be object recognition in images. Other may be used for object tracking while it is moving. Arduino can capture pan/tilt information vie serial interface from Pixy camera. Simple weather station on Intel Galileo

Intel Galileo is an Arduino on steroids. It comes with powerful Intel Atom processor running Arduino Linux distribution. It has most components that normal computer would need including USB host and client, Ethernet and Mini PCIe port that can accept many more peripherals like WLAN from laptop. And most important that it can be programmed from Arduino IDE. Øyvind have shared his latest weather station project built on this platform. He used popular DHT11 temperature/humidity sensor to get readings. He wanted to log readings to SD card so before it was possible he had struggled a bit while he found proper format for it. Driving three servos with potentiometers on Arduino

This is really simple setup where you can drive three servo motors by turning potentiometers. It really takes few lines of code and minimal circuit setup, but if you look more deeply at this solution you can find many uses of it. Simply you can build a remotely controlled rig which could do some fancy stuff. This can be a small robot arm which can be further extended by adding magnetic actuator and so on. Easy to build Arduino based game console

Sometimes simple games are more fun than high quality large games. Especially if you build it by yourself. Joao Vilaca has taken old good games like Tetris back to life. For this he used Arduino Pro Mini, 2.2” TFT color screen and three axis joystick. Game console is also equipped with piezo buzzer for classic sound effects. It is powered with four AA batteries that are regulated by arduino on-board voltage regulator. There is only one game so far – Tetris, which can be downloaded form GitHub.
