Basic Arduino tripwire projects

One way of securing things around is to place laser tripwires. Ronnietucker have put a simple Arduino based tripwire project where he is able to arm and disarm it by entering correct code with 3×4 keypad.

For trip wire he used a cheap laser pointer and light dependent resistor (LDR). Laser simply points to LDR and if beam is disrupted – an alarm is triggered where buzzer plays alarm sound. The system could also to be improved – instead of registering the voltage level on LDR laser could also send some basic code. This way tripwire could be harder to take over and it would be more resistible to ambient disturbances. But I guess for simple purposes this works like a charm.
