This drone is an evolutionary project which now came to the III stages. It has quite a bunch of sensors stuffed in that allow it to fly automatically. Sonar and infrared distance sensors allow drones to hold fixed altitudes and avoid obstacles.
Drone navigates with a GPS receiver that allows programming its flight patterns. The mainboard of the drone is ArduPilot Mega – a specially designed Arduino hardware for autopilot tasks. The working prototype looks really impressive – probably because we used to see wheeled robots that avoid obstacles and can operate without the remote control. Who said that only military drones could do this…?
