Large LED displays are always fun to watch. The bigger the better! Well 16×16 display isn’t big enough but for simple graphics and animations just right. Andrew has an assignment in class to construct a circuit so he decided to make a display. Instead of multiplexing LEDs he wanted to drive them with LED driver ICs STP16CPC26. He used 16 of them.
He included Atmega1284P microcontroller just in case he wants to do more fancy stuff in future with this display. Currently display only accepts commands via USART (using FTDI USB to USAR converter chip). Controlling software is written in LabVIEW where he playd with different modes including FFT audio visualizations.
